2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.  I got the email and was very surprised with the numbers.  I know it’s not much but I still didn’t expect to generate such numbers.  I hope I at least get to match the numbers this year.  Happy new year everyone and keep on blogging!

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,800 times in 2011. If it were a cable car, it would take about 47 trips to carry that many people.

Time to make a gratitude list again!

1.  Family Day – Yumi’s school had their family day last Saturday.  It was a fun-filled but tiring day!

2.  Work – I’m happy to have work that keeps me busy in a productive way. (I’m trying to be positive here 😀 )

3.  Sunny weather – No rain at all last week!

4.  Express Scribe – This is the tool that I use for my new job and it’s really helpful.

5.  Kiki’s Delivery Service – This was our movie pick for the night.  Kiki’s cute and the kids liked it, as always.

That’s it for this week.  What are you thankful for?

Time to make a gratitude list again!

1.  New part-time job – As I mentioned last Saturday, I have a new source of income and it’s great, although I’m still figuring out how to schedule everything.

2.  The internet – I really have to thank whoever invented the internet as we can work anywhere for anyone at any time.

3.  Willpower – I have finally blocked Sims Social in my Facebook account as it is a time hog.

4.  Google Docs – I’ve only recently learned how to use Google Documents and I think it’s great to have your files saved in Google’s servers so you have that security that it’s stored securely and can be accessed anywhere.

5. Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer – This was the movie we watched this week and I never realized how rich it was in terms of lessons on diversity, fitting in and individuality.

That’s it for this week.  What are you thankful for?

Time to make a gratitude list again:

1.  Recognition – It was Yumi’s card day last Tuesday and she’s an Outstanding Student, which means she did great work for the first trimester.  She really wanted this and I’m very happy that she got the honor.

2.  Unexpected gifts –  I got a surprise visit last week from old neighbors and was sent some stuff from Australia.  I guess I have to thank Facebook for this too, otherwise, we would never have gotten in touch.  I have now tasted Vegemite!  Thanks Connie!

3.  Unexpected offer – I signed up with oDesk maybe 2 years ago and never really got anywhere with it.  Then suddenly, I got an offer for a transcription job, well, not an offer but a test for a transcription job that may lead to some longtime work.  Did the test and now just waiting for results.

4.  My Neighbor Totoro – This was our movie pick of the week and it was really cute, the kids liked it a lot.

5.  La Mesa Ecopark – We went to La Mesa Ecopark yesterday for some birding and the kids had a great time!  It was tiring (and hot!) but we all enjoyed being around nature, and it was our first time to see the dam!

That’s my list for this week.  What are you thankful for?

Time to make a gratitude list again:

1.  Second chances – I’m supposed to receive a sanction for closing too many sessions last month but fortunately, I was given a reprieve as it was my first offense.

2.  Teachers – World teachers day was celebrated last week and it was a wonderful opportunity to give thanks to the people who tirelessly educate all of us.

3.  Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief –  This was our movie pick of the week and it was great.

4.  Visiting the Chinese Temple – It’s amazing how there’s this culture within our midst that I know so little about.

5.  New recipes – I’ve tried two new recipes last week and while not exceptional, it was good to have a break from our usual food.

That’s it for this week.  What are you thankful for?

Time to make a gratitude list again.  There were two devastating typhoons that hit our country last week and thousands of people were affected.  So today, I’m thankful for the things we usually take for granted and don’t think about nor appreciate.

1.  A roof over our heads

2.  Food on the table.

3.  Clothes on our back.

4.  Slippers on our feet.

5.  Clean water to drink.

What are you thankful for?

Time to make a gratitude list again.

1.  Post #100 –  This is my 100th post!  I never thought I’d stick with blogging this long and I am very happy that I’m still doing it.

2.  Timeline – Facebook had a lot of changes last week and though it was a bit confusing, I really like the timeline in my profile.

3.  Sims Social – My new gaming addiction.  I actually have to stop myself from checking my sim every hour or so.  (Maybe this shouldn’t be included in this list)

4.  Yogi Bear – This was our movie pick of the week.  It was a bit corny for me but the kids still liked it and it had some environmental lessons.

5.  Flexible work – I took time off from work twice this week, once to have dinner with family in San Juan for Dindo’s birthday and the other to have dinner with friends as Chris is here for a short visit.

That’s it for this week.  What are you thankful for?

Time to make a list of things I’m grateful for:

1.  Time – I’m glad I have time to review my daughter for her trimestral exams last week (this was the reason I didn’t have time to blog).

2.  Internet resources – I’m thankful for a couple of sites I used in making reviewers for my daughter, stories for Language and Reading review and some worksheets  for Math.

3.  Joke night – We didn’t have a movie night but we did share lots of corny jokes during dinner last Saturday and it was great!

4.  Being bilingual – There’s been a lot of debate recently about Filipino and English and I just want to say that I’m happy to be fluent in both.

5.  In Leah’s Wake –  I read this book last week and it reminded me that we should never take our relationship with our children for granted.

That’s it for this week.  What are you thankful for?

I’m sorry but I missed one week.  =(  But here I am now and again making my weekly gratitude list.

1.  Jari – My son turned 11 last Aug. 30.  The weather has been terrible and unpredictable so we didn’t go out and just had pizza, chicken and cake at home.

2.  Lazy days – There was a 4-day weekend last week and it was great not to have an agenda.

3.  Jon – He did more than his fair share during the long weekend since I was sick.

4.  Pizza Hut deals – Good thing Jari’s birthday was a Tuesday since Pizza Hut had a promotion of 2 pizzas for just P499 on Tuesdays.

5.  Mars Needs Moms – We actually watched a lot of movies since last week but this was my favorite movie pick.

That’s it for now.  Hopefully I won’t miss any more weeks.  What are you thankful for?
